NexGard Chewables for Extra Small Dogs deliver fast, once-monthly protection against fleas and ticks in a soft, beef-flavored chew most dogs take like a treat. Formulated specifically for extra small dogs weighing 4–10 lbs (2–4 kg), NexGard (Orange) makes parasite prevention simple — no greasy topicals, no gloves, no waiting before petting your dog or letting kids near them.
NexGard’s active ingredient, afoxolaner, is absorbed into your dog’s bloodstream after the chew is consumed. When fleas and ticks bite, they ingest afoxolaner and are killed before they can reproduce or transmit disease. This systemic approach means full-body protection — parasites can’t hide in fur or hard-to-reach spots the way they can with some topicals.
NexGard is well tolerated by most dogs. Mild, short-lived side effects can include vomiting, diarrhea, itching, lethargy, or reduced appetite. Contact your veterinarian if anything persists or you have concerns.
My dog is just over 10 lbs — should I still use the Orange pack?
If your dog has crossed 10 lbs, switch to the Blue pack (10.1–24 lbs). Underdosing a dog who’s outgrown a pack reduces effectiveness — it’s better to size up than stay on Orange.
Is NexGard safe for puppies?
Yes — NexGard is approved for puppies from 8 weeks of age, as long as they weigh at least 4 lbs (1.8 kg). Don’t use it on younger or smaller puppies.
How quickly does NexGard start killing fleas?
Fleas start dying within 4 hours, and 100% are typically killed within 8 hours of the first dose. Each chew keeps working for a full 30 days.
Do I need a prescription to buy NexGard?
No — SmartWay Pet Supplies ships NexGard over the counter to customers across the US and Canada. No prescription or vet authorization required at checkout.
Can I give NexGard to my pregnant or nursing dog?
NexGard’s safety hasn’t been formally evaluated in pregnant, breeding, or lactating dogs. Talk to your veterinarian before using it in those situations.
Should I dose year-round or only in flea season?
Year-round is the recommendation. Fleas survive indoors all winter, and ticks remain active in cooler months across much of the US and Canada. Consistent monthly dosing prevents new infestations from getting started.
Fast shipping across the US & Canada — no prescription required. Use only as directed on the packaging. Information provided for general reference; speak with your veterinarian for medical advice specific to your dog.

Great on shipping. Very good price.
Excellent product
Even though I have to pay duties for this product to come to Canada 🇨🇦 it's still cheaper than getting it from the vet.
Plus having auto reorder is great except when you forget that it's set up and order the item again. 😀
Item shipped quickly, good communication!
